IR DATA ANNOUNCES MESH NETWORK ATTACH STORAGE

FOR THE WAP900 MESH ROUTER

-- Terabytes of WiFi accessible network storage --

Costa Mesa, Calif., August 13, 2007– IR Data Corporation today announced the addition of a Mesh Network Attach Storage (Mesh-NAS) version of the WAP900 mesh router. Up to 20 Terabytes of distributed network storage capability are available anywhere within the network using a WiFi enabled computer. When a new WAP900 is added to an existing network, the local storage is automatically attached to the overall network storage capacity.

Utilizing high speed packet switching technology combined with our Radio Optimized Routing Protocol provides network accessible streaming video using any WiFi enable device, from anywhere within network. Coverage of over 100 square miles for applications like Voice over IP and Video over IP is readily accommodated. Data is relayed between the integrated WiFi access points utilizing a broadband 900MHz mesh network, so no data cables are ever required. The extremely low latency switched mesh network provides an ideal solution for data intensive real-time applications.

ABOUT THE WAP900 – Mesh NAS version

The systems features a 902-928MHz, broadband mesh radio, for connectivity between units and a 2.4GHz, 802.11/g access point for user level service. The Mesh-NAS version of the WAP900 utilizes a high performance SATA interface disk drive. The mesh optimized packet switching technology provides extremely high throughput rates over very long distances, unlike typical WiFi based mesh systems. Utilizing an omni-directional antenna, radio links of three miles between units are possible. When extended line of sight ranges of up to twenty miles are needed, the directional antenna option provides outstanding network configuration flexibility. The authentication and encryption system ensures that only authorized users are permitted network access.

WAP900 typical applications:

  • Video streaming with terabyte network storage
  • Entertainment or Sports events
  • Golf course and tournament management
  • Railroad management and passenger WiFi Internet service
  • Shipping and Cargo terminal WiFi data services
  • RV parks, boat marina WiFi Internet service
  • Construction and agriculture wireless networks
  • Research and telemetry networks

IR DATA ANNOUNCES THE WAP900™

900MHz MESH ROUTER WITH WiFi

-- Low Cost Mesh Network and WiFi Access Point --

Costa Mesa, Calif., January 29, 2007– IR Data Corporation today announced the WAP900 for installation sites that have local power available. The externally powered WAP900 provides all the outstanding features of our solar powered SWAP900 with significant cost savings. The system features a 2.4GHz 802.11b/g WiFi access point and long range 900MHz mesh router that provides secure network access for WiFi enabled computers. Data is relayed between the WiFi access points utilizing the mesh network, so no data cables are required.

Unlike earlier generations of WiFi based mesh networks, our systems provide over 6 times the range compared to competitive WiFi mesh systems. Where there are trees or dense foliage the 900MHz signals will provide much longer range than traditional WiFi based systems. This superior range capability dramatically reduces the total number of units required per installation and therefore the total deployment costs.

Utilizing the standard high gain omni-directional antenna, radio links of three (3) miles between units are possible. When extended range connections up to twenty (20) miles are needed, our directional antenna option provides outstanding network configuration flexibility.

ABOUT THE WAP900

The system features a 902-928MHz, broadband mesh radio, for connectivity between units and a 2.4GHz, 802.11/g access point for user level service. Each unit is easily reconfigured as a wireless or optional weatherproof wired gateway interface to available Internet connections.

The low latency mesh network provides an ideal solution for data intensive real-time applications. The encryption protocols and web-based authentication ensures that only authorized users are permitted access to the network.

WAP900 typical applications:

  • Internet service providers
  • Recreational, sports, and entertainment events
  • RV park and boat marina WiFi Internet service
  • Construction and agriculture wireless networks
  • Outdoor inventory storage and management
  • Transportation, and utility service networks
  • Business private networks
  • Research and telemetry networks

IR DATA REVEALS THE SWAP900™

900MHz MESH ROUTER WITH SOLAR POWER

-- Featuring an Integrated WiFi Access Point --

Costa Mesa, Calif., October 2006– IR Data Corporation today revealed the SWAP900™, a solar powered, WiFi access point with a fully integrated 900MHz mesh network router.

Data is relayed between access points utilizing a mesh network with a 900MHz broadband radio thus eliminating data cable connections. The custom integrated solar panel makes it possible to deploy wireless networks over very long distances with total independence from external power. Typical applications include Internet service providers, asset management, agriculture, construction sites, recreational areas, entertainment venues, sports events, private networks, security monitoring, emergency networks, and scientific research.

ABOUT THE SWAP900

The system features a 902-928MHz broadband mesh radio for backhaul connectivity between units and a 2.4GHz, 802.11/g access point for user level service. Each unit can easily be reconfigured as a wireless or optional wired gateway to available Internet connections. The large data storage capacity in each unit can be utilized to remotely store private files.

The router features a Radio Optimized Routing Protocol (RORP) to interconnect each unit. The protocol continuously monitors the mesh network configuration and status to optimize data throughput. Additionally the protocol automatically eliminates data link errors, thereby increasing total network throughput. The low latency mesh network provides an ideal solution for data intensive real-time applications. The encryption protocols and web-based authentication ensures that only authorized users are permitted access to the network.

The aluminum weatherproof enclosure, high efficiency solar module, and extended capacity battery provides continuous daily operation. The unit can be mounted easily on poles, towers, or rooftops that face the sun. Where there are trees or dense foliage the 900MHz signals will provide much longer range than traditional WiFi based systems. This superior range capability dramatically reduces the total number of units required per installation and therefore the total deployment costs.

SWAP900 typical applications:

  • Internet service providers
  • Construction and agriculture broadband wireless networks
  • Storage and inventory networks
  • Recreational and entertainment events
  • Private networks
  • RV park and boat marina wireless Internet service
  • Research and telemetry networks
